HPC Infrastructure Security: Ensuring Storage and Network Safety, Integrity, Efficiency, and Performance
Thursday, September 17, 2020 (Central Time) — 12:30PM - 1:45PM
A High Performance Computing (HPC) environment comes with its own set of challenges, especially when it comes to infrastructure and information security. Environments must be inclusive of many different types of users and scientific computing requirements, including: user interaction on internet facing networks versus user interaction on dark sites, moving and storing large data sets, data sharing and permissions, and security separation and access requirements. In this workshop we will explore why information security matters, delve into how HPC is both similar to and different from common IT environments, and discuss how best practices, including building blocks and tools, and best practice system hardening are the foundation to overcoming these challenges at scale.
Workshop Organizers:
Jesse Martinez, Brett Hollander, Carolyn Connor, Kierstyn Paschke
