Hands-on Unsupervised Deep Learning for Beginners
Thursday, September 17, 2020 (Central Time) — 2:00PM - 3:15PM
There is too much stuff out there in the web and it has become very difficult to navigate through the all the papers, the code, to find reliable introductory content for those who want to join us in the field of deep learning. While there are many introductory books on machine learning, most have become inadequate in addressing the needs of those who specifically want to work on deep learning and have the minimum necessary mathematical, algorithmic, background and programming skills. This hands-on workshop is for absolute beginners in deep learning, who are looking for a strong foundation of the basic concepts required to build deep learning models from scratch. The workshop assumes little exposure to neural networks and deep learning, and starts reviewing the machine learning fundamentals needed for deep learning. Then it goes on to introduce some of the popular unsupervised neural network architectures such as AEs and VAEs. At the end of each module, the audience will have a chance to test their understanding of the concepts and measure their own progress. By the end of the workshop the audience will have a basic understanding of unsupervised deep learning concepts and will be able to distinguish which algorithms are appropriate for different tasks with different tools.
