Re-Imagining the Tech Space through Compassion and Rising Strong Methodologies

Rising Strong by Brené Brown is a wonderful book that talks about the power of vulnerability. In today’s world, the tech space is filled with words like efficiency, iteration, and sprints. In the midst of moving as quickly as our browsers take to load, there is power in taking a step back and understanding how teams, organizations, and companies are working. By using principles shared in the book mentioned above, as well as certain key learnings Mariela has developed over time, it is possible to re-work the way teams communication with one another, the way in which individual contributors gain clarity from their managers to be a lot more holistic. In the same light, these findings can provide students and faculty alike an alternative way to approach course structures, policies, and guidelines. By re-imaging what tech looks like as of now, both in classrooms and in corporate buildings, we will have the opportunity to learn about new forms of thought as a community.
